Ask Claude or ChatGPT what to wear from your own wardrobe

An AI assistant gives better outfit advice when it knows what is in your wardrobe. Alama Wardrobe is a connector for the assistant you already use: once you sign in and allow it, Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity or Le Chat can read your wardrobe, suggest outfits from the clothes you actually own, and, if you say so, save the outfit it suggested. Alama Wardrobe is listed in the Claude connectors directory; the ChatGPT listing is in review, and until it is approved you can add Alama in ChatGPT as a custom connector. Perplexity takes Alama as a plugin file and Le Chat as a custom connector, both on their free plans.

This page is published by Alama LTD, the maker of Alama Wardrobe. It describes what the connector does today; nothing here is planned or promised.

Assistant How you add Alama Where it stands
Claude Pick Alama Wardrobe in the connectors directory, sign in, allow. Listed; works on web, desktop, mobile and Claude Code.

Perplexity Upload the Alama plugin file under Plugins, press Connect, then type @alama-wardrobe in a question. Works, free plan included. Custom connectors without the file need Pro or Max.

Gemini Settings → Connected apps → Custom apps, for personal accounts in the United States. Not shown outside the US yet.

Checked in October 2026 on real accounts. The assistant names and marks belong to their owners and only say which assistants the connector works with.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Connect Alama once

In Claude, open the connectors directory and add Alama Wardrobe; in ChatGPT, add it from the apps and connectors settings; in Perplexity, upload the Alama plugin file; in Le Chat, add a custom connector with the Alama server URL. Either way a sign-in page on alama.co.uk opens: sign in with the account you use in the app and press Allow. Takes about a minute.

  2. Step 2

    Ask in your own words

“What should I wear to a client dinner tomorrow?” “It's cold and raining, what have I got for that?” “Show me my navy chinos.” The assistant reads your wardrobe through Alama and answers with pieces you own, with their photos.

  3. Step 3

Save the outfit, if you want to

Turn on “Allow assistants to change my wardrobe” under Profile → Connected assistants in the app, and “save that outfit” puts the look in your wardrobe, thumbnail included, under the same limits as the app. The switch is off until you turn it on.

Step-by-step menus for each assistant are on the Connect an AI assistant page.

What the assistant can do

  • List your wardrobe By category, colour, formality or warmth, favourites only, or a search word. Up to 80 items at a time.
  • Look at one item Everything you recorded about a single piece, with a link to its cleaned-up photo that expires within an hour.
  • Suggest an outfit A look from what you own for an occasion, the weather or a date, with a one-line reason. You can insist on a piece it must include.
  • Spot the gaps The garment classes you own none of, and how many pieces you have per class, so advice to buy something starts from your wardrobe, not a catalogue.
  • Save an outfit Only once you have allowed it in the app. It saves; it never deletes or changes an existing outfit.

Where your wardrobe data goes

The assistant never holds a copy of your wardrobe. Each question becomes one or two calls to the Alama connector, made as you, and the answer comes back as a list of items you own. Here is what travels, and what stays put.

Where your wardrobe data goes
  1. 1 You Ask in your own words, in the assistant you already use.
  2. Your question
  3. 2 Your assistant Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity or Le Chat decides which Alama tool to call.
  4. One sign-in on alama.co.uk, then a token that expires
  5. 3 Alama connector api.alama.co.uk, signed in as you. Reads by default; saves only if you allowed it.
  6. Item names, categories, colours, sizes; photo links that stop working after an hour
  7. 4 Your wardrobe Your account only. Nothing is ever deleted.

Never leaves the app

  • Original photos
  • Try-on photos
  • Email address
  • Payment details
  • The pre-loved marketplace

What it will never do

  • Delete anything, change an item, or touch the pre-loved marketplace. No connector tool does any of that, in any version.
  • See your original photos or your try-on photos. The assistant gets the cleaned-up picture of each item, through a link that stops working after an hour.
  • Generate pictures. Virtual try-on stays in the app; the assistant works with words and the photos you already have.
  • Reach another person's wardrobe. Every answer is scoped to the account you signed in with.

Why we built it this way

Most outfit advice from an assistant is advice about clothes in general, because the assistant has never seen yours. Alama already holds your wardrobe as a list of real items with clean photos, so the useful move was to hand that list to the assistant you prefer rather than build another chat inside the app. We kept the connector read-only by default and put the one write behind a switch you control, because the wardrobe is yours and the assistant is a guest.

Questions

Which AI assistants work with Alama Wardrobe?
Claude (web, desktop, mobile and Claude Code) through the Claude connectors directory, Perplexity through a plugin file you upload (free plan included), and Le Chat as a custom connector (free plan included). ChatGPT works today as a custom connector while the directory listing is in review. Gemini only offers custom apps to personal accounts in the United States for now. Any assistant that accepts a custom remote MCP server can be pointed at https://api.alama.co.uk/mcp.
What can the assistant see?
The names, categories, colours, brands, sizes and tags of your items, your saved outfits, the outfit suggestions Alama generates, and temporary links to the cleaned-up photo of individual items. It never sees the original photos you took, your try-on photos, your email address or payment details.
Can the assistant change my wardrobe?
Only if you turn on “Allow assistants to change my wardrobe” under Profile → Connected assistants, and then only to save outfits made from your own items. Nothing an assistant does can delete anything, and you can turn the switch off at any time.
Is it free?
Reading your wardrobe through an assistant is free on every plan. Free accounts get ten outfit suggestions a day through an assistant; Organiser and Style Pass have no daily cap. Saving outfits counts towards the same saved-outfit limit as the app.
How do I disconnect an assistant?
Open Profile → Connected assistants in the Alama app and press Disconnect, or remove Alama from the assistant's own settings. New requests stop at once; a session the assistant already holds expires within an hour.
Does the assistant do the styling, or does Alama?
Both, depending on what you ask. “Suggest an outfit” runs Alama's own stylist over your wardrobe and returns one look with a reason. “Which of my black shoes go with the grey trousers?” lets the assistant reason over the list itself. Either way, every item it names is one you own.
